What are the similarities between Isla Mujeres and Cancun? The answer is really none at all; Cancun was a small fishing village until some fifty years ago. There were a handful of hotels, and then over the past twenty five to thirty years there was an explosion of construction, and it continues to this day. Now all the major chains are in the hotel zone, they are generally very luxurious, in fact the whole of the hotel zone is considered luxurious. It is an area that is generally considered safe, unlike some other parts of Cancun, where particularly at night, one must exercise caution. A comment one often hears is, regarding the hotel zone, it is difficult not to think you are still in the States; everything about it is very Americanized and the tourist who opts for Cancun is generally of a very different type of tourist who visits who visit this wonderful island.
Those who vacation on Isla Mujeres are generally rather older that the typical Cancun tourist, although many young people do visit the island for the excellent diving areas around the island and there are a number of lively bars in the center that cater for them. Although generally those who vacation here are looking for relaxation; we have four Isla Mujeres luxury villas in Punta Sur and our visitors tend to spend the day relaxing by the pool or at the nearby Indios Beach club (Our guests receive priority access to Indios beach club, In conjunction with our 50% off golf cart offer), then go into the center to dine in the evening, where there are endless bars and restaurants from which to choose.
The real attraction of Isla Mujeres for most is the total safety and security the island offers; robberies and burglaries are virtually non existent. It is possible to walk around the island any hour without fear, we have been selling and renting Isla Mujeres villas for over twenty year we have never had a burglary, or ever witnessed a crime. We have projects in Southern Spain, and the same cannot be said for that region, or in many parts of the world. Isla Mujeres really is unique in that respect.
