Mexico is burning, or is it?

The killing of Mexico's, Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, known as "El Mencho", head of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, has caused some short-term repercussions by the group's members. This has involved them setting fire to petrol stations and cars, but is it as widespread and as dangerous as the press would have us believe?
When is anything you read in the press true? They lost touch with the truth a long time ago, they want to scare and control us, and unfortunately there are still people (albeit decreasing in number) who believe what they read in the press and see on television.
Isla Mujeres as always, is unaffected by what happens in the rest of Mexico, the problem is that this scaremongering by the press could impact on those planning to book one of our Isla Mujeres luxury home rentals.
What the press does is damage businesses by scaring away tourism. We saw a newspaper report when there were a few scattered incidents saying, ""Wherever you are in Mexico, don't leave the property, it's too dangerous." This is why the legacy media and television, reading and viewing figures are plummeting, because they are no longer taken seriously, and there are now more reliable sources of information available.
Fortunately, nobody on Isla Mujeres heeded their warning; the island is at 90% occupation, and the bars and restaurants are full. Our Isla Mujeres rental properties are fully occupied. For those who own a car on the island, at the moment the going is slow because the roads are full of golf carts, but the golf carts are one of the attractions for tourists; being able to explore the island in a golf cart. At one time, we had a 50% offer on a golf cart for those renting an Isla Mujeres Luxury home. We no longer have that offer, as our properties always seem to be fully booked with or without the offer.
Anyone visiting the island who finds themselves in need of a doctor, our recommendation will always be Doctor Great Shorey. Greta is a very experienced English doctor who has been on the Island for nearly forty years, mainly treating the under- privileged on the island, but is happy to see tourists, or Americans living on the island. Her consultations are unhurried and inexpensive.
