The hardest seats but by far the best restaurant In Isla Mujeres

If you want to be comfortable in this establishment, then take your own seat cushion; the chairs at Nalu are seriously hard, but it’s a small price to pay in order to visit what is a truly superb restaurant. In our opinion Nalu is Isla Mujeres’ best quality restaurant.

Nalu is located at the southern end of the island, which is a real bonus for many visitors, because previously, for quality dining there was no alternative but to go to the center, Zoetry (when it is operating) in Saj Bajo, or perhaps Limon in La Gloria (both Zoetry and Limon are in a higher price range) so it was previously a real mismatch; with virtually all the quality Isla Mujeres rental properties at the southern end of the island but no quality restaurant to serve those living and renting there, that has now changed.

Our Isla Mujeres luxury rental homes are in Punta Sur, a comfortable walk from Nalu. We are now finding that many renters are choosing to forgo golf cart rental (which is really expensive), because it is no longer necessary to go into the center to dine, or for that matter to find a nice beach, as now there is also a quality beach club close by.

So what sets Nalu apart from the majority of the island’s restaurants? It is no single thing, it’s a combination of factors. Firstly, it’s a lovely location, it sits on its own, so it doesn’t have the problem that so many of the restaurants on Isla Mujeres have, which is music so loud you can’t hold a conversation; often not the restaurant’s own music, but that of adjoining restaurants.

It’s very frustrating for many restaurants in the center, because they want a nice, relaxing dining experience for their guests, but their guests are complaining about the music from nearby establishments. Nalu doesn't have this problem, they do have some music evenings, but the music is not overpowering. The service at Nule is friendly but efficient and attentive, the menu is varied, and you will always have an outstanding dining experience. The kitchen is open-plan, where you can see the cleanliness and how strictly it is run by the head chef; everything is about quality, they also do the best  Rib Eye steak on the Island.

It has helped us and probably many like us with quality Isla Mujeres rental properties. One of the first questions we were asked by potential renters, are there quality restaurants in the vicinity? Previously, we had to say no, and I am sure we lost rentals as a result. That is no longer the case.
