Selling an Isla Mujeres Property

an Isla Mujeres property has become quite a complicated business these days. A few years ago, all that was required by the notary was the buyer's passport, a cashier's check (which is no longer permitted, due to money laundering rules) and the sellers' details. Now, the amount of documentation and information that is required by the seller is staggering, even proof of where the funds came from initially to purchase the property, which can be difficult after so many years. The seller has to deal with the purchaser's lawyer, which is rather like dealing with a government department.
Some people have abandoned selling their home, because it has become too much hassle, and decided Isla Mujeres home rental may be less hassle, although renting an Isla Mujeres home is not without its own hassle. Nowadays, one is required to apply for all the permissions and meet the strict local and federal government requirements. The list of which includes (but is by no means everything) fire extinguishers, smoke alarms, gas detectors, emergency lighting, new electrical sockets in the kitchen and bathrooms and first aid kits. Apart from that, employees are required to go on lifesaving swimming pool courses and first aid resuscitation courses. Yes, we know that it makes no sense for there to be first aid resuscitation and life-saving swimming pool courses, but those are the rules; so renting may be less stressful than selling, but it is certainly not stress-free.
So what is the reason for all these requirements when selling a property? We are told that they are anti-money laundering measures, but who is doing all this money laundering? The average American couple buying or selling their retirement home, or renting out an Isla Mujeres home. It is probably best to work on the basis that when a government gives you a reason for a measure, there is always something else, like the COVID-vaccine, which is to save lives. Safe and effective, we were told, and we all know how that turned out.
