Successfully renting your Isla Mujeres Home

There are ways to ensure that you get quality renters; We have four luxury homes in Punta Sur Isla Mujeres that are for vacation rentals additionally we have just arranged to look after a neighboring property. Whilst our properties are not homes as such, but they are expensively furnished, and we try to keep them in top condition.

In order to ensure that a home is treated respectfully, there are a number of things you need to do.

We came to an arrangement with an Isla Mujeres letting agency which is very successful, but it had one downside for us, they had an instant booking facility, and we very quickly discovered that really didn't work for us; until the guests arrive you don't know to whom you are letting the property. Yes of course, you have the renters name and the number of people due to occupy the property, but that proved to be not enough for us. On the second booking with this new agency, we had the worst rental we have ever had in all the years we have been renting. The guests were from a middle eastern country, living in the States . They were rude, aggressive, arrogant and very unpleasant to our staff, who are not used to being treated in that manner. We had to carry out an extra day of cleaning when they left. In addition, they broke the dishwasher, which left us quite out of pocket.

We handle our own bookings now, and whenever possible we want to look at their past record as a renter and the comments from those who have previously rented to them, if we have any doubts we don't rent to them. If that all looks OK, Laura our booking manager then communicates with them. It may sound like overkill but our vetting process has allowed us to have years of trouble free holiday renting, that and of course the type of visitor who comes to Isla Mujeres; hellraisers are unlikely yo be attracted to Isla Mujeres, it's more those who want to take advantage of the excellent diving and the relaxed atmosphere the island offers. Not to mention of course the security; we have been renting luxury Isla Mujeres homes for over twenty years and never had a break in.
